Introducing the one and only DaCosta Bayley! Dacosta and I have been internet friends for some time and I've always admired his drawing challenge March of Robots. For one, is there a better use of the month of March? Plus Robots?! Who doesn't love that. I will warn my American readers that DaCosta, without provocation, decided to change my spelling of the word favorite to favourite. I'm gonna let it slide this time brother. I'm only glad that I didn't include the word color in my interview, it may have been mangled into colour. Anyway, if you're not much of a blog reader,...

It's a terrible scenario but if my house were on fire, the things I would make sure I got out are: 1. My family, 2. Irreplaceable family photos not backed up to the cloud, 3. My hand printed copies of Natalya's books, “Barbarian Love and Downfall of Unicorns” and "Lucha Libre." Am I being a little dramatic? Probably. But these books are so beautiful. I want to hang them on the wall but which page would I open them up to? To display them I need to leave them out and let people touch them. When I show them to people I feel...

We're pleased to spotlight artist Robert Hughes! Robert, tell us about yourself: I distinctly remember being a 9 year old kid and having my teacher ask me what I wanted to do when I grew up. I even remember where I was sitting in the classroom and what it looked like and revisit that memory in my head very frequently. “I want to draw cartoons for TV,” I said in response. Of course, when you are a kid, you are encouraged to pursue your dreams and do whatever you want as a living, believing that it is easy to just go get...

My wife and I happened to meet Jessie at CTN Animation Expo and was super intrigued that she was a costume designer for animation. I always assumed that the character designer had to play that role but it makes total sense that you could have a costume designer with character designers. I love the idea that the character designer can lean on her knowledge of how clothing is constructed and moves, making clothing historically accurate, making sure the clothing fits with the occasion or what the scene needs to convey and so on. It was also exciting to hear that she has a book coming on the subject. Keep reading to learn more about Jessie and what she does.

I happened upon “Drawn On The Way” by Sarah Nisbett a few years ago and immediately connected with the idea. Our mission has always been about drawing in the random moments of your life so I was thrilled to find out that Sarah has a book coming out. If you’re not familiar with Sarah’s work, she started drawing people while commuting on the subway back in 2012 and has been drawing random portraits ever since. Keep reading to get to know Sarah better and don’t forget to check out her new book (link at the bottom). Is it...

I've been following Jim for many years and have been amazed at his consistency of drawing. He's does amazing computer illustration but my favorite are his random sketches either from his imagination or observation. I look forward to getting to know him better.
